Kathmandu to Dubai is a 4-hour direct flight on Emirates, FlyDubai or Air Arabia. Dubai Airport Terminal 3 is one of the world's finest — the metro from the airport reaches Downtown Dubai (Union Square) in 20 minutes for AED 5 (~USD 1.35). Check in, freshen up and take the evening metro to Downtown Dubai Mall for the 9pm Dubai Fountain show (free, runs every 30 min after sunset).
🚇 Tip: Buy a Nol Card (AED 25, ~USD 7) at the airport for unlimited metro, bus and tram travel — far cheaper than taxis.

Book Burj Khalifa At the Top for the 1-hour-before-sunset slot online (pre-book — cheapest online, most expensive at the gate). 2 hours at the top — see the city change colour as the sun drops. Descend for dinner at one of Dubai Mall's 160+ restaurants overlooking the fountain. Watch the 9pm fountain show from the waterfront promenade. Explore the Dubai Aquarium (world's largest acrylic viewing panel) in the mall.

Desert safaris depart at 3pm. Take the metro to Union station (Deira). Walk to the Gold Souk (open 9am–1pm, 3pm–10pm) — browse 400 shops of gold and diamonds at world prices. Cross the Creek by abra water taxi (AED 1, USD 0.30) to Bur Dubai — explore Al Fahidi historical district (1800s merchant houses, Dubai Museum) and the old textile souk. Lunch on the creek waterfront.

🌊 Jumeirah Beach + Palm + Fly Home
Morning at Jumeirah Public Beach (free) — the cleanest public beach in Dubai with views back to the Burj Al Arab. Optional detour to Palm Jumeirah by monorail. Lunch at a JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) walk restaurant — Dubai's most pleasant outdoor dining area. Transfer to Dubai Airport (2–3 hrs before flight). Visit November–March — Dubai in summer is 45°C and genuinely uncomfortable
Dubai's climate is extreme. From June to September temperatures regularly exceed 40–45°C with high humidity — outdoor sightseeing becomes impossible and even short walks outside are exhausting. November through March is the ideal window: 20–28°C, sunny, low humidity, excellent for outdoor walks along the Creek, the Marina and Jumeirah Beach. December and January see the Dubai Shopping Festival (massive retail discounts) and the Dubai Marathon. Book at least 2 months ahead for peak December–January.

Nepali citizens get visa on arrival — 30 days, free of charge
Nepal passport holders receive a 30-day visa on arrival at Dubai International Airport — completely free. No advance application, no fees. Show your passport, return ticket and hotel reservation. The visa can be extended once at the GDRFA office for AED 600 (~USD 165). Keep your Emirates ID receipt from immigration — you'll need it at exit.

Dress modestly in public — fine in hotels, malls and resorts
Dubai is a Muslim country. In public areas (souks, streets, metros) cover shoulders and knees. In hotels, beach clubs, pool areas and tourist resorts, standard resort/beach attire is fully acceptable. Swimwear is only appropriate on the beach or at the pool — not in shopping areas or restaurants. Modest dress opens doors to more authentic local interactions and is simply respectful.

The Dubai Metro Red Line runs from the Airport to Downtown, Dubai Mall, Business Bay, Dubai Marina and JBR. A Nol Card (AED 25 at the airport) covers metro, tram and bus. Journey from airport to Downtown: AED 5 (USD 1.35), 20 minutes. Taxis are clean and metered but expensive (USD 8–15 most rides). Use Careem (local Uber) for transparent pricing. Avoid unlicensed taxis outside the airport.

RAMADAN
Visiting during Ramadan — respect the fast, enjoy the iftar
During Ramadan (dates change annually), eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours is illegal and deeply disrespectful. Restaurants are open but must be discreet. The iftar sunset breaking-of-fast is an extraordinary cultural experience — many hotels offer iftar buffets (USD 30–50) with traditional dates, lentil soup, Arabic dishes and a festive atmosphere. Ramadan brings late-night shopping, discounts and a very different atmosphere to the city.
