Why Poon Hill

Nepal's Most Rewarding Morning Hike

Poon Hill sits at 3,210m in the Annapurna foothills, framing a jaw-dropping 180° panorama of eight peaks above 7,000m. The trek from Pokhara is just 4–5 days — accessible for beginners yet deeply rewarding.

The trail winds through rhododendron forests ablaze in spring, traditional Gurung villages and serene teahouses. The 4 AM climb to the viewpoint is a rite of passage for every Nepal traveller.

Insider Advice

Poon Hill Trek Tips

Start summit at 4 AM
Ghorepani to Poon Hill is only 45 min but every trekker heads up at dawn — start early to get a good spot on the viewpoint platform.
🌸
Go in spring for rhododendrons
March–April brings Nepal's national flower into full bloom. Autumn (Oct–Nov) offers the clearest mountain views — pick based on priority.
🎒
Pack warm layers
Temperatures at Ghorepani drop below 0°C at night even in spring. Down jacket, gloves and sleeping bag liner are essential for the pre-dawn summit.
💰
Carry cash — no ATMs on trail
No ATMs after Nayapul. Carry enough rupees for teahouse meals, permits and tips. Get TIMS & ACAP permits in Pokhara before you start.
