Direct flight from Kathmandu (3.5 hrs) arrives at Suvarnabhumi — Bangkok's main international airport. Take the Airport Rail Link express train to the city centre (45 min, USD 2). Check in, recover and eat dinner at the nearest street food stall — start immediately with boat noodles, pad see ew and Thai milk tea.

🛕 Grand Palace, Wat Pho & Chao Phraya
Start at 8am before crowds: Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (Emerald Buddha, 2 hrs), then walk to Wat Pho (the Reclining Buddha, 1 hr). Lunch at a riverside restaurant on the Chao Phraya. Afternoon: ride the river ferry up to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) for sunset photos. Evening street food tour in Yaowarat (Chinatown).

Respect Thai customs — the Monarchy, temples and the Buddhist faith are deeply sacred
Thailand is one of the warmest and most welcoming countries in the world — but there are non-negotiable customs. Never speak disrespectfully about the Royal Family (it is illegal under lèse-majesté law). Always remove shoes before entering temples and private homes. Dress modestly at all religious sites. Never touch a Thai person on the head. Never point your feet at a Buddha image. These are not tourist rules — they are deeply held cultural values. Observing them opens Thai culture to you in ways that ignoring them closes forever.

Nepali citizens get 30-day visa-free entry on arrival
Nepal passport holders receive a 30-day visa on arrival at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport. No advance application needed — just show your passport, onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds (THB 20,000 / ~USD 550 in cash or bank statement). Extendable once for 30 days at any Thai immigration office (USD 50).

Nov–Mar: cool season (25–30°C), very little rain — ideal for Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Andaman beaches. Apr–May: hot season (35–40°C) — less rain but exhausting. May–Oct: monsoon on Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) — avoid beaches, but Koh Samui and the Gulf coast are fine Sep–Oct. December–January is the absolute peak with most visitors and highest prices.

Use Grab for all taxi rides — metered taxis overcharge tourists
Grab (Southeast Asia's Uber) is available throughout Thailand and shows the price upfront. Always use it instead of hailing street taxis which routinely quote 3–5× the real fare. Install Grab before you land. Within Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain and MRT Metro are excellent and air-conditioned. Tuk-tuks are only for short tourist hops after negotiating the price first.

Carry cash — street food and markets are cash-only
Thai baht is the currency — THB 35 = USD 1 approximately. Airport exchange rates are poor. ATMs are everywhere and give good rates (USD 5–7 fee per withdrawal — withdraw larger amounts less often). Street food, tuk-tuks, small shops and markets are cash only. Cards accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. Never accept "broken ATM, I'll exchange for you" offers.
